Where To Farm Gold - Pitfalls To Avoid When Choosing Locations
There are some big mistakes you can make when choosing where to farm gold in World of Warcraft that will really kill your earn rate. Learn to avoid these and you’ll find that you’ll end the day with a lot more cash in your pockets.
1) Downtime – many people don’t consider the downtime involved in whatever farming method they’ve chosen. There are multiple different kinds of downtime, but they all have the same affect: tanking your earnings per hour. Any time you aren’t spending doing actual farming is time you’re losing money. Downtime could be as simple as the distance between spawns. If you are running from mob to mob, you’re wasting time. Pick a spot with mobs that are closer together. If you have to fly a long distance to get where you’re going, that’s downtime. You want to minimize this because it has a direct effect on your bottom line.
2) Excessive costs – if you’re fighting mobs that are extremely tough, you’re taking more damage than you would be on easier mobs, which means higher repair bills. You almost might be burning food or bandages, which even if not that expensive do cause downtime (see point #1). Worst of all, if you end up using a pot at any point during the farming you’re really eating into profits. Remember that the bottom line is the only thing that matters, so keep an eye on your costs and try to do your farming in low cost areas.
3) Inventory overload – some farming spots drop few items worth a lot of money. Other areas involve lots of smaller drops. In the end, it may not seem like there’s any different between one hundred items worth 1 gold each or one item worth 100 gold. But it can be a big factor if you don’t have a ton of bag space. If you have almost completely empty bags, then this isn’t much of a concern. If you’re like most people and have maybe 15 or 20 bag spaces available at most, you’ll have a better earn rate with smaller numbers of more valuable drops.
Of course these are just a few of the major do-nots when you’re farming gold, but they do have a grave impact on where to farm gold. Do your best to avoid these, and your bank account will thank you.
