Gold Farming in Wrath of the Lich King - Blizzard supports farming for gold

Did you know that Blizzard fully supports rampant gold farming?  I mean, I don't know that you'll find anywhere on their site where they actually say that they support the practice, but all you have to do is look at how quick and easy it is to amass piles of gold in the latest expansion for World of Warcraft and you just know that they are doing everything they can to stuff players' pockets.

Before the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, it was a real chore to get gold.  Especially at the higher end, there just werne't many options for making money.  Remember everyone trying to get enough gold to purchase their epic mounts?  They had to work and work and work.  There weren't a lot of options for coming across gold.  You basically had to either grind on mobs or pick one of the few professions that were profitable.  Heck, daily quests didn't even exist yet.

In TBC, things got a little better, at least later in the expansion.  There was a lot of inflation when it first came out, so everyone felt like they were making tons of gold.  But prices for things that people wanted (like epic flying mounts) were extremely high, so it evened out.  Later in the expansion, particularly after they introduced daily quests, the amount of gold being earned compared to being spent really exploded.  By the time Wrath of the Lich King was being released, people had so much gold they didn't know what to do with it.  I know someone that was complaining about only being able to take 20k with them when they transferred servers.

Finally in Wrath of the Lich King, gold farming is almost out of control.  There are so many daily quests, so many profession opportunities, so many instances, and so many long quest chains that gold is almost falling out of the sky.  Sure there are expensive items to buy, but it seems that the ratio of earn to spend has improved even more.  With just a small amount of time per day anyone can be earning unheard of amounts of cash.

So you see, Blizzard clearly must be supportive of gold farming amongst the player base.  If they weren't, they wouldn't make it so darn easy to find gold.  You basically just have to pick it up.  Who knows when they'll change their mind, so my advice is to get it while the getting is good.
