Gold Farming Locations – Lazy gold farming for Engineers in Borean Tundra

I’m going to let you in on one of the great gold farming locations Warcraft. This is one of my absolute favorite farming methods because it’s stupidly easy and takes almost no time. I like to do what I call alt-tab farming for this one. What is alt-tab farming? It means I can farm for just a minute, then alt tab out and do something else. Every once in a while I just tab back in, farm for another few seconds, and then go back to my other stuff. It’s a great way to get things done while still accumulating gold.

Unfortunately, it does require you to have engineering as one of your professions. There are plenty of other methods out there for non-engineers, so don’t get too upset if you can’t take advantage of this one. I also want to add the caveat that this may not be the fastest way to get gold if you just want to build up as much as you can in a hurry. This is just about the laziest way I know of to make gold though.

Here’s how it works: get on your mount and head over to the Borean Tundra. Go to the North end of the zone, sort of toward the eastern side. You’re looking for the area labeled Geyser Fields. It’s the part of the map where all the robots are, with the steam vents and shallow pools of water.

There are two gas clouds that spawn within this area. If you have one of the engineering items equipped that lets you spot gas clouds, you can see them easily on your mini-map. Just fly around the Geyser Fields, a little ways to the inside of the outer ring, and watch the map. Once you spot a cloud, fly down and use your Zapthrottle Mote Extractor to mine it. They are steam clouds, so they will give you both Crystalized Fire and Crystalized Air.

Each cloud should give you 3 or 4 Crystalized Air/Fire. It only takes about a minute to swing all the way around, and there are usually two of them up at a time. After you’ve mined them, there’s nothing to do but wait for the respawn. Rather than sit there doing nothing, alt-tab out and get something else done. Update Facebook, buy a new computer case, whatever. Then when you happen to think of it, jump back in and do a quick lap. One minute of gold farming to every 10 minutes of doing something else. What could be easier?

There are many gold farming locations in Wrath of the Lich King, and each of them has something that makes it special. This spot in Borean Tundra makes my top 10 list simply because of the almost complete lack of effort required.
