Do you need gold for an epic mount? Welcome to the club. Thousands and thousands of Warcraft players need to get their hands on a ton of cash to get their epic mount. Depending on where you are at in your progression, you could need up to 7000 gold. That is a serious mound of money, especially for a casual player.

Luckily for you there are many, many ways you can earn gold. It’s not going to happen overnight, but with a creativity and persistence you can make it happen if you really want to. One important aspect is to go after the gold in the right order. What do I mean by that? You’ll be better off completing story quests before you try to earn money running Heroic instances. The gear upgrades you’ll get from quests will make it easier for you to find a group for heroics. If you try to complete it in the opposite order, you’ll spend more time waiting for a group, and you’ll have gear that’s better than the quest gear when you get it.

Ok, on to the different ways to make some cash. The first obvious one is professions. If you have a gathering profession it’s easy: go out and do something gathering. Sell whatever you collect. Nothing fancy. If you have non-gathering professions, figure out which items you can craft for a profit and do that over and over. Try not to branch out too wide. Concentrate on a few very profitable items. The more focused you are, the more tuned into the market you will be.

Secondly there are the story quests. These are the non-repeatable quests that are spread liberally throughout the entire game. Of course the best ones to complete are the quests in Wrath of the Lich King. You can go back and complete earlier quests but the rewards won’t be too useful for you and the gold payouts aren’t as good. You’ll want to do these quests in order because the easy quests will get you the gear you need to complete the harder quests.

Another good way to farm gold for your epic mount is through daily quests. Find a set that you like and get very good at doing them quickly. They are easy, fast, and produce a steady income. A side bonus for daily quests is that you’ll generally be earning reputation which will give you more gear and other upgrades.

You can also do some old fashioned grinding on mobs. Either pick mobs that have good normal drops like cash, cloth, and gray items, or concentrate on mobs that drop a specific higher value item that’s in demand. Something like Eternals would be an example of a higher value drop you could farm for.

As mentioned before, you can farm instances or heroic instances. Depending on your gear, this may or may not be very profitable for you. Keep in mind though, you can pick up great gear upgrades while you are farming which can help out immensely when you are farming solo.

These are just a few of the ways that you can farm gold for epic mounts. Don’t be afraid to talk with other players about how they make money, and see if you can imitate them. You might even come up with a few methods of your own once you start in on serious farming.
